SongFinch

I have joined SongFinch. I was about to write that I had recently joined them, to make it sound a bit more like a piece of news, but it is not really true. I joined SongFinch in December 2022. SongFinch is an American company, where you can order personal songs for any occasion (songs for breaking up seems to be a real thing – I haven’t had any of these yet, so I am unsure who it is for? Is it intended to pave the way for a break-up, facilitate it or for the one who got left.. like here’s a song for you about how I broke up with you.. have fun!)

The songs I (and all the other artists) make are usually based on one of our previous recorded songs (as we only have 4 days to make a customized song) but with new lyrics and vocal recordings and sometimes a whole new arrangement.

I really didn’t imagine that this was something I would ever be doing, so when SongFinch contacted me I didn’t get it at all. But when I did my first song it turned out to be incredible fun – first of all it gave me a legitimate reason to play with and reiterate my old songs and also for the first time ever I knew exactly who I was making the music for. Normally when making music I keep asking myself – who am I really doing this for? Of course I am mainly doing this because it is fun and because I have an urge to make projects (all kinds of projects) and finish them – but It is very abstract not to have a clearly defined audience at the end of a project. SongFinch kind of solves this.

But SongFinch is also a very american company with a lot of rules that doesn’t really go hand in hand with creative freedom, so it’s not like I get to try out a lot of different new things. But hey, as long as it is fun, I will probably keep doing it.
